Different Text: Available Apartments and Waiting Lists Kern Housing Authority is the proud owner of 56 unit apartments in our community. Among these, 20 units are specifically designated for transition age youths. Additionally, 36 units are available to individuals or families with an annual household income of 50% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI). Waiting lists are a common feature of most low income apartments. It's important to note that these lists can sometimes take years before you can be contacted for available openings. However, there are certain steps you can take to improve your chances. One strategy is to get your name on as many waiting lists as possible. Contact the Apartments Directly for Updates To facilitate your search, we provide both phone numbers and websites for each of the apartments. If you wish to inquire about current availability or open waiting lists, we strongly recommend calling them directly. This way, you can receive the most up-to-date information regarding their vacancies. Apartment Rates and Income-Based Rent Many of our listing pages include current apartment rates. However, it's important to note that most HUD listings do not have published rates. Instead, the rent is determined based on 30% of the renter's adjustable gross income. To find out if you qualify for income-based rent, please contact the apartments directly. By organizing the information under clear headings, it becomes easier for individuals to navigate the process of finding available apartments and signing up for waiting lists.
